Who just woke up to the sound of her refrigerator running after 2 days of no power??
THIS GIRL!!
I'm really, really happy about this, I can't even explain. 2 days is too long. And yes, I know that there are people who live their entire lives without power. And may I just say " Thank you, Lord, that I am not one of them!"
I'll post my post-hurricane blog later! I got some good pics.

Hurricane
- Pre-hurricane weather is H-U-M-I-D. Makes other humid days I've complained about here seem Colorado-style, desert-dry.
- It's eerily quiet everywhere.
- 7:30 pm: My friend called to tell me that the police stopped by and she was told to evacuate her apartment that is 5 blocks from mine.
- We both decided not to evacuate and here's why: I don't see why a school that is down the street from me will be any safer than my apartment. The school will flood just as much as my apartment will. Also, I'm scared of the Katrina stories from New Orleans and I hesitate to be stuck in a large, closed building with a bunch of strangers.
- 8:00 pm: The news just told me I'm under a tornado watch, but I'm from Colorado and not scared of tornadoes
- 8:04 pm: The news just showed me that Bridgeport is in the path of the eye of the storm. I AM scared of that, for sure.
- 8:08pm It's officially getting windy and raining more because I can hear it. OMG!!!
- The news also told me it's not IF the power goes off, it's WHEN. Oy-vey.
- 11:54 pm Turns out waiting for a hurricane gets boring...
- 1:27am No, I can't sleep. We can call it excitement...not nerves...except for that it's nerves. But, anyways, now it's REALLY raining, there's some standing water in the street and it's windy. They keep saying "it's not a storm about the wind, it's a storm about the water." I think they mean the winds are on a tropical storm level, not so much hurricane, but the amount of water it's producing and because the ground is saturated from previous rains, we are prone to flooding. I'm told the worst of it will be 2-4 am and I think my crazy brain will make my tired body stay awake for at least part of it.
- 1:30 am The TV is in and out. My brand new satellite is probably about to blow off the roof.
- 1:34am Still have internet. This is good news. But I do not think it will last long...
- I have found that the combination of sugar and wine makes a hurricane more fun. Even if you are by yourself. :)
